I was the first recipient of the biennial Thatcher Hoffman Smith Award which recognizes “a visionary creative work in process which provides a blueprint for the creative process and which demonstrates the power of original thought and expression to enrich the world.” This biennial prize is open to all fields of creativity, including the arts, cultural affairs, education and science. I received this award for my series of life size life-size, dimensional female “skins” which the viewer can touch and handle and which embody aspects of identity, expectation and desire. |
